Concrete can do more than you think - and that over generations and it is absolutely sustainable. Concrete consists of natural raw materials which can be obtained locally: gravel, cement and water. Because these raw materials are available locally, the transport routes are short, the costs low and the pollutant levels and carbon footprint kept low. Recycled materials are used in the production of concrete and at the end of its very long lifetime concrete can be 100% recycled. This means that there can scarcely be a greener or more sustainable construction material than concrete.
